The juvenile house was likely built around 1910.

The observation home, over 100 years old, and the juvenile justice board, built in 2022, are the only operational buildings currently in place.

Special Home and Hostels merged with Children's Home and Children's Shelter in a new location.

The site is in bad shape, the structures are about to collapse, and they are uninhabitable.

HOW JUVENILES ARE CATEGORIZED AND PLACED IN VARIOUS INSTITUTIONS IN INDIA
Group 239407.png

It is not advisable to combine these children and place them on the same campus because the care and support that each of them requires is different and children who are in conflict with the law may pose a danger to the other.

Problem
PROBLEM

The juvenile facility in Ballari, India is in disrepair, over a century old, and lacks suitability for its diverse residents. Combining children in conflict with the law and those in need of care and protection in one facility is not recommended. Additionally, the separation of various juvenile justice institutions across two different locations is not ideal; a single campus is more desirable.

USER STUDY of CHILDREN IN CONFLICT WITH LAW (CCL)
image 14.png

The main reason why children in conflict with the law are neglected in Ballari city is a lack of youngsters to care for. Multiple neighbouring three-tier cities are in the same condition. The solution for all of these cities is to combine surrounding districts for definite strength. After that, we have a total of 93 juveniles, with 1% of them being female. As a result, creating a boys campus that serves the youth of six neighbouring districts would be great.
